Marion Brachet holds a doctorate in musicology from Université Laval (Quebec, Canada) and a degree in "Musique, histoire, société" from EHESS (Paris). Following a master's thesis on narratives in progressive rock, her dissertation focused on the narrativization of rock and folk songs and its generic and political implications.
