Involving the families of public officials in the general call for transparency, which is deemed likely to prevent conflicts of interests and restore confidence, imposes a double penalty upon them. On the one hand, it throws the politician’s family members under the spotlight of a frenzy of transparency and purification that is both unreasonable and unproductive. On the other, it does this against their will, without ever asking for their consent and, therefore, in contempt of their rights.
