Penal law and penitentiary rules wage war against the criminal more than against crime by constructing a destructive force among the prisoners whose fear-based dynamic is described in this paper. The fear of criminals and of prison creates a vicious circle in which the prisoners reproduce, in their relations to others, a mechanism created as a protection against it.
