A proper understanding of the relationships between the armed forces and the defense industry — a problem shared by many contemporary societies — should, in France, take into account the role played by the General Delegation for Armaments. Even if, in France, one finds logics similar to those affecting these relationships in other countries, today as in the 1960s the General Delegation seems to be a major agent that determines the balance between the various protagonists of armament policies.
