Nowadays the Paris metropolitan area is one of the five largest world metropolises in term of value added. It is the engine of French economic growth as well as the main source of transfer of revenue to the lesser developed regions. In fact, Paris combines three world capitals: one for business, one for intelligence, and one for cultural and tourist attraction. However it is now facing serious development problems of linked to a greater degree of decentralization and a trend towards increasing wage equality between French cities.
