A journalist and writer, she was the last correspondent for the daily newspaper *Le Monde* stationed in Algeria in the early 1990s. She has published several books on Algeria, including crime novels—notably *Un baiser sans moustache* (Gallimard, “Série Noire,” 1998)—and an essay, *Algérie, les années pieds rouges*.
