The “Dixit” card game as support for metaphorical
representations : a media for systemic therapy under mandateIn
the context of our family guidance under mandate work, we initiate
intervention processes, bearing in mind the creation of an
intermediate area. In this article, we present the use of the media
we designed based on the board game “Dixit”, in collective and
individual interviews/sessions, supporting an approach based on
individuality as well as system. Starting from questions about
their personal representation (of events, relationships, affect,
etc.), patients can choose symbolic images, leading to metaphorical
language. Through an exchange constructed together with the
patient, this metaphorical language will ease expression and
denomination. It also allows the emergence of a relational third
party and facilitates access to beliefs.

interaction to which the major currents of family therapy have made
us aware. The points to be addressed in the sessions including
family members are carefully elaborated beforehand between the

their therapist. But what does this word mean? Empathy is neither
sympathy nor identification, and has three parts. The first is
direct empathy which has neurological and experimental bases. By
it, I put myself in someone else’s place. This direct empathy has
two components: emotional empathy, which consists in feeling what
someone else feels without confusing oneself with them; and
cognitive empathy which consists in imagining what others imagine.
The second part is reciprocal empathy: I let others put themselves
in my shoes. It supposes that I agree that others have the same
right to self-esteem as I have, the right to love and be loved just
like me, and have the very same rights as me. The third part is
reciprocal and mutual empathy, or inter-subjectivity: I will accept
from others information on who I am, and guidance to
self-revelation. The principal enemy of empathy is the desire for
absolute control over others.

establishment of a transcultural psychotherapeutic clinic in a
child psychiatry hospital service in the Paris region. The idea was
to organize family consultations bringing together professionals
engaged in the care of children and their families in the presence
of an intercultural mediator, an interpreter of language but
especially, of customs – translating both the customs of the
family for the healthcare team, but also the customs of the
caregivers for the families. This reciprocity of translations,
built upon a symmetry of encounters between the families and the
caregiving teams, and their insertion in the global healthcare
project in the child psychiatry service, made it possible to endow
these consultations in the presence of an intercultural mediator,
with the dimension of psychotherapeutic mediation in a
transcultural framework.

Adaptation of the parent-baby psychotherapy framework to new
knowlege about perinatal psychopathologyAbstractThe authors of the
present article propose adjustments to the parent-baby
psychotherapy framework in light of recent theoretical, clinical
and technical findings in perinatal psychopathology. The points of
view put forth here are based on a review of the literature of
early therapies and their evolution in order to look more closely
at the indications for this type of treatment as well as its
epistemological, semiological, material, technical and therapeutic
aspects. Because of this, the very clear position of the authors in
their role as child-centered caregivers has brought them to think
about the encounter with the baby and his parents, to formulate a
framework, to organize the time, space and objects for each session
and to accompany the therapeutic process as a function of their
identification with the baby’s situation. Finally, an account of
psychotherapy illustrates the way in which the complexity of this
type of clinical work imposes a permanent questioning as to how the
therapists operate in terms of containment, third-party position,
otherness, differentiation, metaphorisation and transformation of
psychic processes.
