Cet article, après avoir procédé à de brefs rappels historiques indispensables pour comprendre l’influence des puissances étrangères dans la péninsule, vise à dresser un panorama non exhaustif des grands enjeux liés à la recherche d’une autonomie par les deux Corées, quand bien même ceux-ci demeurent profondément dépendants de leurs soutiens respectifs. Nous verrons que l’appel à une autonomisation des relations intercoréennes n’est pas nouveau, tant à Séoul qu’à Pyongyang, puis reviendrons sur le rôle joué par la Chine et les États-Unis, les alliés indispensables, mais aussi par le Japon et la Russie, les voisins utiles.
The Korean Peninsula: Between Autonomy and Independence
After a short historical overview necessary to understand foreign influence on the peninsula, the article offers a non-exhaustive panorama of the main stakes connected with the search for autonomy by both Koreas, even though these stakes depend closely on their respective backups. It shows that the call for a greater autonomy in inter-Korean relations is not new—neither in Seoul nor in Pyongyang—and it surveys the role played by China and the United States, as key allies, as well as by Japan and Russia, as useful neighbours.
